Another year of Covid-19 means another year without an up close and personal Guelaguetza on the last two Mondays of July. Like last year performances and events are going virtual. However, unlike last year, when video of the dancing was taken from the years 2017 to 2019, this year the delegations will be performing live from their villages.

Thank you for sharing this. I’ll stream at least some of the events. Have always enjoyed the smaller scale performances that were all over town. Kind of a come around a corner and there they are type situation. There were always some performances in Parque Juárez across the street from the Posada; often not during Guelaguetza. The stage was plywood over a void so footfalls were very amplified; music was also amplified but electronically, por supuesto !!! No naps on those days.

Have been enjoying watching the dancers dancing in their pueblos in the morning performances. Alas, the evenings have been rebroadcasts from the Guelaguetza Auditorium in previous years.
