On Calle de Ignacio Allende at the corner of Tinoco y Palacios, a new mural is ready to take you on a magic carpet ride.
Well, you don’t know what we can find
Why don’t you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride
You don’t know what we can see
Why don’t you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free
Close your eyes girl
Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away
— Magic Carpet Ride, written by Normal Cook, Robert Manuel Clivilles, and David Bryon Cole; performed by Steppenwolf.
Hopefully, this mural won’t be slapped with “pintura no autorizada” signs like its predecessor.
How about a petition signed by (at least) every ex-pat in Oaxaca (plus as many locals as possible , to be presented to the Tourist Bureau, the (equivalent of ) the Mayor and city fathers that we consider the murales a major attraction, an enhancement of value and beauty to the already beautiful city we love ….etc. Etc… ?..kay
Love the idea but, alas, it is a tightrope we walk in trying to not be accused of involvement in political activity.
This is a beauty!
Yes, that corner has a “corner” on the marvelous mural market. 😉
Wow, I love it. Very cool symbols.
I wish I could decipher them all.
