I am awestruck at the demonstration of love and devotion the indigenous people of the Oaxaca Valley weave into their lives, their tie that binds. Last year I was fortunate to visit Oaxaca city and the valley during Dios de los Muertos and 2 years before… Antigua, Guatemala during Semana Santa as well as Pana and the forest of the north. Both trips were everything I had dreamed of…an explosion of culture. It is no wonder to me why some cultures survive eons. I hope to return in 2016…Thanks for keeping Oaxaca fresh on my mind. You are very welcome, John! I am constantly humbled by the lessons there are to learn.
Your photos tell a bbeautiful story.
Gracias, Marilyn. The aura is so warm and tranquil.
H!
I will visit Oaxaca in the next couple of weeks to see if I would like to reside. I recently left a teaching job in the Middle East, and though of “retirement age”, I would still like to find useful part time employment combined with volunteering.
I lived several years in Puebla in the 90s, so I know and love Mexico, and speak Spanish, mas or menos. I enjoy your blog/photos and appreciation of Mexican culture, and would love to meet for coffee when I arrive to hear your insights on a woman living sola.
Best regards,
Cathy
Let me know when you arrive. You can email me at the address located to the right, below. I look forward to meeting you! Saludos, Shannon
