As a treat for residents and visitors during the Muertos festivities, last night and tonight, the City of Oaxaca is presenting, “Manjares de Todos Santos” — a video mapping light and sound show at Santo Domingo de Guzmán and the Basílica de la Soledad. Last night was a mob scene at Santo Domingo, so we opted for Soledad, where we had a ringside seat.
¡Espectacular!
Chris, of Oaxaca-The Year After fame, shot video and I will post a link when he gets it uploaded to YouTube. Update: And the link is: http://oaxacanyear.blogspot.mx/2014/11/mapping-la-soledad.html
You sure did have a good seat!
Yes, I did! And, I could watch the top fourth of subsequent performances from my terrace. 😉
Love the photos but don’t understand the concept, “video mapping.”
David, from Wikipedia: “projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings.” Essentially, it was a sound and light show that used the architecture of La Soledad.
Great photos. We attended both shows, and both were maravilloso!
I never made it to the one at Santo Domingo. Saturday night, I just didn’t have any steam left to hang around the Alcalá until 8:30 pm.
Your photos are so impressive and the concept unique. Missed sharing Oaxaca beauty with you.
Thought of last year with you and Sheryl… especially Sunday morning during the craziness of the Muerteada in San Agustín Etla!
