Feliz año nuevo y muchisimas gracias to all my wonderful blog readers — for reading, for commenting, for sharing, for the opportunity to meet some of you, and for inspiring me to continue.
Tonight, don’t forget to eat 12 grapes at midnight, making a wish for the new year as you eat each one. And, if one of your wishes is to travel, take your suitcase out for a walk after you finish your grapes.
My wish for you in 2014…
I Hope You Dance
Written by Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers and
recorded by Lee Ann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they’re worth taking
Lovin’ might be a mistake
But it’s worth making
Don’t let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion, always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
Shannon, such beautiful photos and song. You just made me smile! Thanks and happy new year!
Happy new year to you and Bill!
Very nice and classy. To make 12 resolutions, my memory would require a cheat sheet.
Yep, I should have made a list. 😉
Happy New Year!
And to you! Your blog is terrific and I’m learning so much. Muchisimas gracias to you.
Thanks for an inspiring post! Happy New Year!
Glad you and David are here to share the first few months of the new year!
Gracias for all of this post. The song reminds me of a Dylan one I shared with my adult children: Forever Young.
Ahhh… yes, Forever Young is one of my favorites. Thanks for the reminder! Hope the new year is treating you well.
Muchas Gracias, Shannon for your so interesting verses , as usual, in sync with your very rich blogs, Actually the Dylan song “Forever young” is one I love much; as with other Dylans,. Wishing a happy, healthy Year 2014 !!!
Thanks Archie. I hope you are staying warm and enjoying these first days of the new year.
Happy New Year to you too!
Dang…. I have no grapes in the house! Maybe I’ll take twelve sips of red wine, with a wish after each one!! 🙂
And my neighbors already think I’m crazy….. so if they see me walking with my suitcase, they’ll just smile.
I didn’t have any grapes, either! So, followed your suggestion. 😉 Took my suitcase out for a walk on the terrace. There were other people out on their rooftops… hoping they were watching the rockets and not me. Happy new year!
Shannon thank you for always starting off my day with a smile! Your blog is the first thing I read every morning with my cup of coffee. You keep us connected to our favorite city. And we definitely DO dance……
Felice ano nuevo
A big thank you for starting off my year with a smile! Hasta pronto…
