I’m still on the East Coast, now outside of Boston. It’s cold (not freezing, thank goodness), dark by 4:30 PM, and colors are bland. Today, as we dashed down an alley, dodging raindrops, from parking lot to restaurant, I caught a brief glimpse of a mural on the side of a building, but it seemed rather lackluster compared to the walls of Oaxaca.
While I LOVE (I think that’s what the last one says) seeing my family and appreciate (more than a little) paper towels that don’t disintegrate, drinking water from the tap, and plumbing that can handle toilet paper, I’m homesick for Oaxaca. Soon!
Oh my Dear, Are you staying till
Christmas with your grandson?
For some reason I didn’t think you
were headed north this year?
Ok stay warm my friend!
Not to worry, I’m returning to Oaxaca on Sunday. 😉
I am coming to Oaxaca for a week in January and then on to Augustanillo for a yoga training for a month. I love your posts. The last time I was in Oaxaca it was 1970! So excited to see it again!
Thank you so much for reading! I’m sure you will see many changes (especially the traffic), but the people remain warm and welcoming.
Not to worry…all the color and wonderful things are awaiting you. As are some serious bloqueos, but hey, we can walk!
Glad I’m not scheduled to return on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1. ¡Hasta pronto!
Yes! I would feel the same.
Only a couple more days and I’ll be back! I see you’re going to Alaska. ¡Felicidades! Fyi, it looks like all the pictures you’ve ever seen. The 1st time I visited my best friend on the Kenai Peninsula, I saw a moose was standing alongside the road. 😉
oh me too, I’m so missing all the color, sights and sounds of Oaxaca,,,, the new visuals that seem to show up all the time…. I love where I live, but there is some definite magic that happens in Oaxaca! Hope to be back soon!
Yes, never a dull moment or wall — even the crumbling ones!
Not happy to see Marilyn’s post about “serious bloqueos”
We are planning to rent a car inJanuary so we can travel to surrounding towns and then to the coast.
Please keep us posted when you get back
Were you caught in the snowstorm in NY?
Bev in Ct
Looks like the bloqueos weren’t as bad as predicted, especially on Dec. 1., as Murat, the new governor, moved up his swearing in ceremony to a little after midnight. I’ll keep you posted. Snow was very light in Saratoga Springs, so no problems there. It rained in Boston for several days, but now it’s beautiful, but cold (for this California/Oaxaca gal).
