My friend G called this succulent, the Chrysler Building. Anyone who has seen the original, or photos of it, in New York City can understand why.
This Kalanchoe luciae is one of the great, great, great… grandchildren of the original plantlet G had given me six years ago when I first moved to Oaxaca.

That is the most exquisite Kalanchoe ever! Lucky you!
It’s pretty common in the nurseries here and much more spectacular that the Kalanchoes I’m used to in the US.
Beautiful!
And, lots of “babies” at its base, so more to come!
I would love to see your garden some time. It must be magnificent!
Thank you! It’s really just a variety of a lot of pots and plants. However, I’m working on giving it a more cohesive design. We shall see… In the meantime, Mother Nature provides the magnificence! 😉
Great photo – and I can see why G gave this plant the nickname! The top part looks like it belongs to some other plant.
Thanks, Marilyn! The top part is the flower stalk, the flowers of which are pretty unremarkable compared to the rest of the plant.
Beautiful Shannon!
Thanks! By the way, the common nickname is “Flapjack plant.” I like G’s nickname much better!
